any recommendations?

does anyone have any good recommendations for books (or anything) that could help me to know what things i need to make sure and do with hattie to help her develop the best that she can?  i would really like some kind of child development book that is not a text book.  i would like something that explains what hattie is thinking and/or experiencing in her world and how i can assist in her development.  can anyone help with that?  i just don't want to fail to give hattie something that she needs.

thanks

babycenter.com is a really good site. I will also ask my friend what she thinks. Let me know if you get any good suggestions!

"What to expect the 1st year" is a really good book. I always look into it when I'm wondering where my kids should be developing mentally, physically, ect. It gives tips on how to help them along, like with object permanence and stuff like that.
A good parenting book is: "Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood-Practical Parenting from birth to Six years" by Jim Fay and Charles Fay. It gives some really good advice for discipline; although it's sometimes hard to stick with the method ;) . Good luck!

I think you are doing a fine job!!! Little Hattie is right on target if not ahead from what I have seen. But yeah I too have heard the What to expect the first year is great too.

Hey Becs this is Emily. I don't have any books but from an education stand point the best thing you can do is talk to her. Don't use baby words, real words, descriptive words. You should look up the 30 million word gap. It's a study about talking with your children. It compares the way different classes talk to their children. Pretty eye opening and informative. Good luck. I'm fully expecting her to be the coolest kid around.

I watch (and re-watch) and take notes on Dr. Scoresby's successful families...SOOOOOO helpful...I borrow them from my mother-in-law...

This same Dr. Scoresby, ahem, has also written some good books where you might find some of what you're looking for. You can find some stuff on kgls.com.

I echo Rene as well. You are doing a fine job!!! I'd also check out parenting magazines and talk to lots of other moms. In addition to babycenter.com, check out parenting.com. Also, a friend of mine is currently reading "Nurture Shock" by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman. I plan on checking it out during the next break from school.

I have read about a million parenting books - but like "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." It is all about sleep - but talks a lot about how sleep actually helps your child develop, etc. There is kind of an information overload about parenting that it is sometimes hard to shift through it all :)I am sure your instrincts are best though!
